Several committee positions are now available, all with a 2 year term:

- Education Officer (transition with Yousef Alwan until Registrar study day January)

- Research and Guidelines Officer

- Website Officer (transition with Atif Khan until May 2023)

We would be delighted to hear from members who wish to be more actively involved with the society and expressions of interest for these positions will be very welcomed.

Please kindly submit your interest via the ‘contact us’ page on the BSUR website by 1st December, 2022. Please include a short supporting statement of up to 250 words of why you would like to join the committee and what qualities you will bring to the post. You may also include a short CV but this is not obligatory.

We also welcome any informal discussions with those who would like to gather more information (again please submit your telephone number via the contact page and we will endeavour to respond promptly).

Job Descriptions for committee roles vacant as of December 2022

 

Research and Guidelines Officer

  • To review updates in national and international urogenital imaging guidance and incorporate in to BSUR website
  • To act as liaison to RCR and NHSE when new uro-radiology and gynaecology radiology guidance and policy change is planned, 
  • To compile BSUR response and feedback to any new published guidance
  • To advise  BSUR members on participation in NICE or other national guidance committees
  • To be the BSUR liaison with iRefer revision process
  • To co-ordinate multicentre BSUR audit/research projects
  • To participate in BSUR educational events

 

Education Officer

  • Organisation of the poster and trainee oral presentations at the annual BSUR meeting. Work alongside other committee members to review poster abstracts for the annual meeting and decide on the trainee oral presentations that will be delivered. At the meeting you will be involved in deciding the winners. The new BSUR website greatly assists with abstract submissions
  • Interaction with other radiology societies in relation to education projects. Other radiology societies will contact you and you will form good working relationships, such as setting up poster prizes and presenting lectures at their meetings. In particular the Society of Radiologist in Training (SRT
  • Participation in the newly created annual Registrar study. The Registrar study is a new meeting and working alongside the junior representative committee members, you will be involved the organisation and topic selection for the lectures/webinars delivered. The inaugural meeting in January 2022 was a success, and your enthusiasm will ensure it’s on-going accomplishments
  • Involvement in the BSUR FRCR 2A question exam committee. This year the BSUR re-started FRCR 2A urogenital exam committee. You will be involved in this group, whereby you will be given the opportunity to write and review questions for the FRCR 2A exam
  • Involvement in iRefer revision process. Rolling programme updating guidance from RCR

In addition to being the Education Officer, you will be part of the BSUR committee as a whole, and be given an opportunity to review guidelines, present at national meetings and the potential to get involved in RCR urogenital specific activities. There is a lot of scope to expand the role to include more regular education activities on the BSUR website.  Overall, it is an excellent role, whereby you meet new, exciting and interesting people from across the country, including Consultants and trainee Radiologists, gaining further knowledge and skills yourself, as well as promoting and developing further the strong education component of BSUR. 

 

BSUR Website and Communication Officer 

 

  • Communicating BSUR news and activities with members via email and answering any specific questions including membership queries.
  •  Active social media participation especially via the BSUR Twitter account to promote BSUR  activities. 
  • Liaise between BSUR members and the Committee and direct any specific questions to the Committee members. 
  • Regular update of BSUR website to ensure up to date content is available with help from the Committee.
  • Active participation in BSUR educational activities and ASM.
  • To be involved with the RCR iRefer revision process.
